Carien joined Mars as a contractor in December 2012 as an AP Clerk.
She assisted me with the backlog of payments and within 3 months turned the AP department around. All overdues were paid and the GRN accounts were all under 60 days. Due to her hard work and dedication Carien was offered a permanent role in April 2013.
Carien was a loyal and dedicated associate, always willing to go the extra mile. Her tenacity stood her in good stead. I could always rely on Carien to get the job done. Carien delivered consistent results and had collaborative relationships with her peers, internal and external customers. Her comfort around higher management was a bonus which gained her everyone’s trust and respect.
Carien moved from the AP department into the AR department as a Credit Controller and took on one of our top 5 customers accounts. Although it was a new role for Carien and the work was pressured, Carien pushed herself to develop and grow enabling her to reach all the targets set.
I have enjoyed having Carien on my team and she will be missed. Her bubbly personality along with her willingness to help in all areas was amazing. She was part of the engagement team while also taking on the role of admin assistant. She also joined the health and safety team.
During our transformation in 2021, Carien independently led the knowledge transfer of all procure to pay processes and procedures to the overseas team. This was a huge success and handover was successfully done with no interruptions. Our SA unit was the first unit to have a successful handover and all learnings were shared with our European units to follow our learnings. This is all due to the hard work and commitment from Carien.

15. SARS: Preparation and submission of EMP201, EMP501 (bi-annually).
16. SARS VAT 201 returns: submission and enquiries from SARS.
17. Maintain and update the asset register and donations register.
18. Co-ordinate investment and supply chain management.
